How to convert MTS to VOB on Mac/ Windows

I'm looking for a good program for iMac, preferably easy to handle, to convert .mts file from my Canon camcorder to .vob format so I can burn it on a blank DVD and then play on my home DVD player. I tried some of free mts converters in past days, but the result is terrible: an image composed of small squares.

MTS format are a kind of high-resolution video file type recorded by some HD digital video camcorders from Canon, Panasonic, Sony, JVC. MTS footages are crystal-clear, but you might have no clue about how to do those MTS files from SD card after you shooting them. They are not compatible with most of media player and video editing software.
